Updates to Images

1 02 2010

I’ve spent the last part of last week and the weekend posting up some new photos to our new site (Free-3D-Textures)  I managed to get the people pages up, as well as the toys page.  There aren’t a lot of things yet on the toys page but since my husband is an avid toy collector (mostly hotwheels, corgi, buddyL, ertl and most types of collectible toys) there is no shortage of “boy toys” in this household. Since the largest number of them are currently in storage (awaiting the shelf-building project), it will take some time to get to them all, but I do have a small stock of images to process still, so there should soon be more on this page.

Besides the toy page, most of the stock photo pages have been updated with some new photos – the food page has a couple of great shots of a birthday cake, a few more photos on the men’s people page including a fire chief. I didn’t keep track of all the updates, but I’m pretty sure we’re approaching the 500 image mark at this point. There’s also some nice winter images in the landscapes section.

For those of you who know how to make use of PNG files, there are a few new files in that section as well – a couple of empty shotgun shells, some furniture,  a savings bank in the shape of a rooster, silo, muffins, clock and a few other recent things that might be useful. And of course, I’m sure that most image users realize they can also resave png files as .jpg files, right?

And, as is normal for our site, the textures are updated every week. This week, a few new red and black and blue and black ones in the abstract section, along with some new brick textures in the brick and tile section.

Oh, and for photoshop users, there’s a couple of new texture brushes in the Photoshop Brush Section. And yes…everything is still free!

400 Free Stock Photos…

22 01 2010

…or thereabouts. I’ve been working away at getting the new site set up and there’s enough stock up there to make it’s announcement worthwhile.

Free-3D-Textures.com went live back in November, but up until January 2010, I hadn’t been able to get the stock photo section live. Now it is.

The automated gallery system is still not operating, but I’ve gone ahead and begun manual uploads and categorization of the images on the site.

There’s a couple of more sections to add  but you can have a look at the current sections which include:

Animals & Nature – broken down into sections like Birds & Fowl; Field, Farm and Forest Animals, Pets, and Trees and Flowers.

Buildings and Architecture – broken down into sections for Homes & Condos, Industrial & Office, Barns and Sheds, Interiors.

Food & Drink – which currently doesn’t have that much stock so you’ll find it all on one larger page, but this will broken into sections as I get the stock images uploaded.

General – This is a larger section and it’s broken down into categories, and then subjections. General Misc. (stuff I didn’t know where to put), Jewelry & Bling, Transportation, Books & Newspapers.

Holidays & Events – broken down into Christmas & New Year, Valentine’s Day, Celebrations ( this section will include stuff like weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and other events). Once I have the remaining sections set up, there will also be sections for Easter, Thanksgiving, Halloween and other yearly holidays.

Industry, Office, Business & Finance – pretty much what it says, industry & career type stuff, office supplies and equipment, money and finances.

Snap695

Landscapes – currently broken into two sections; Winter and Spring, and Summer and Autumn. That’s just so I can get some stuff up quickly. Later each one will be broken into a single season. I still have hundreds of files to go through and upload, but for now they’re paired with a partner season.

The last two sections – People and Toys, should be up with some stock in them by early next week.

On the new site you’ll also find divisions for free Graphics, PNG files and a very large number of free textures and backgrounds, along with a few free photoshop brushes (mostly of textures) and a number of photoshop tutorials. Since the site was designed to be a “one-stop shop” for imaging and graphics it should make it a lot easier for you to access and find the things you want, all in one place.

This new site combines three of my blogs (this one, a texture one and a photography one) into one larger .com site, so hopefully, you’ll find something you like!

Mostly Stock – Thursday May 16th

16 05 2008

Wow – got a little behind here with posting up some new stuff. Sorry folks. Here’s a few more than usual today – mostly “stock” type images for business and editorial use – one nature photo.

If you haven’t already, please be sure to read the licensing terms – found on the FAQ. For those who have already, please read them again as there have been a couple of changes in the last week – don’t worry, they are still free. The changes mostly relate to commercial usage (and that’s still free too).

A Change in the Wind

13 04 2008

For the last little while I’ve been offering a few free images at flickr, but now I’m going to make these available through my wordpress blog. Stay tuned for some free stock photos – images you can use in your blogs, articles and art projects.

Images posted from this date (Sunday April 13, 2008 ) on will be listed as free. Images posted prior to this date are NOT free.

Images posted here for free use are NOT to be considered orphaned works under any circumstances, regardless of any passing of the draft bill in the USA.

FAQ

Q: Are they really free to use?

A: Yes, you may use these images freely in your blogs, magazine articles, educational or business presentations, school projects, websites, personal greeting cards, business cards, and in art projects.

Q: Why are they free?

A: For a couple of reasons – giving away free things is an accepted practice to advertise your work, and many bloggers and new start-up business have no budget for graphics. Free images can help everyone if they are used correctly. Secondly, every photographer has images that just don’t meet the size and/or quality requirements for selling – not if you want to keep your reputation for producing good work. Images I sell are a better quality at their largest sizes than those offered for free. Most of the time, free images are used on the web in blogs and articles, where smaller sizes of good quality images are all that is required.

Q: Are there any restrictions for the use of the pictures?

A: What you may not do is:

(a) redistribute these images on any other website (if your friends want to use them, simply direct them to this blog so they can select their own image);

(b) you may not claim these images as your own (all images ©J. Gracey Stinson);

(c) you may not sell these images on an “as is” basis. You may use them in art projects or compilations (deritives) that you intend to sell but the image used may not be considered the main element of the finished work. The work must substantially change the free image. Simply adding text to the image does not qualify, nor does adding a photoshop filter.

Q: What is required if I choose to use one of your free images?

A: Nothing much – you may not change the copyright information or IPTC data. If there is a place to do so and it will not impact on your final image, a link back to this blog or my website (Photography of Grace) would be appreciated. If placing a credit or link has a detrimental affect to your finished work, a small note in the information or description of the image would be fine. If a credit or link simply is not possible, just contact me and let me know. That’s all the requirements for photo use.

Q: What if I want to use one of these images as a business logo or website template for sale?

A: This would be considered a commercial use, and the images may be used if they fall under the requirements in (c) above. If they do not and you still wish to use them please contact me for commercial licensing, or visit one of my sales galleries to purchase licensed images.

If you are making a template for your own website, it does fall under section (c) above, if you run a website template business and want to use it as a salable template without making major changes to the image, it does not fall under (c).

Now that the legal stuff is out of the way, below are the first few available for free download. To download the largest offered size of the image, please click on the image shown below.
